Volunteers are a vital part of our team who assist us in serving the needs of our Hospice patients and their families throughout our service area. Hospice volunteers dedicate their time and support by providing comfort, compassion and a caring presence for the terminally ill and their families. Hospice is also in need of complementary care practitioners in the fields of massage therapy, reiki, pet and music therapy, aromatherapy, guided imagery and relaxation techniques and other modalities to work with patients on a volunteer basis.
Volunteers are assigned to perform a variety of important and rewarding duties, such as providing caregivers with respite care, supportive listening and companionship for caregivers, friendly visitation for in home activities like reading, playing cards or games, creative projects, crafts and more! Volunteers sometimes prefer performing clerical work or assisting with special projects in an office environment with our hospice staff.

Administrative / Office
For creating admission packets, special mailings, filing, copying. Gardner office location, 4-6 hours / month.

Adult Day Health Care
Greet clients upon arrival at program sites. Adult Day Health Care Centers are located in Gardner, Fitchburg, Athol and Greenfield. 1 – 5 times per week from 8:30 am – 9:30 am.
Help staff with games, stories, reading, music and crafts for clients. Assist clients with participation and interaction at and of the Centers. Mornings from 10:00am – 12:00 noon or afternoons from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
General kitchen support, including loading the dishwasher and clean up. Food is served daily in the morning, mid-day and in the afternoon at all locations.
Help staff aides prepare, serve and clean up after snacks and meals. Volunteers needed at all four locations. 1 – 5 times per week from 8:30 am – 9:30 am, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm – 3:00pm.
Special Events Volunteer
Present a program of interest for Adult Day Health clients. Would welcome several types of programs (i.e. storytelling, music, travel log). Monday – Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. One-time, monthly or bi-monthly.

Volunteers to assist with running a weekly Diaper Pantry at 34 Pearly Lane in Gardner. The Diaper Pantry is open every Thursday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Volunteers help with the check-in for clients and stocking shelves. For more information, please contact:
